Expert Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Support

Your relationship with substances has become problematic, affecting your health, relationships, and life goals. Our specialized substance use disorder therapy provides evidence-based treatment that addresses addiction and underlying issues. Recovery is possible, and you deserve expert support.

Comprehensive Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery

What started as occasional use has progressed to something you can’t control. Substances that once helped you cope now create more problems than they solve. You’ve tried to quit on your own, maybe succeeded for a while, but found yourself using again. Your relationships are strained, work is suffering, or health is declining because of substance use. At Healing Speak, we provide specialized substance use disorder treatment that addresses both the addiction and the underlying issues driving it, helping you build lasting recovery.

Our substance abuse therapy recognizes that addiction is a complex condition involving biological, psychological, and social factors. With evidence-based treatment for substance abuse and comprehensive support, recovery is achievable and sustainable.

Understanding Substance Use Disorders

Substance use disorders range from mild to severe and involve continued use of alcohol, drugs, or medications despite significant problems caused by that use. You might struggle with inability to cut down despite wanting to, spending excessive time obtaining or recovering from substances, cravings and strong urges to use, failing to meet responsibilities at work or home, continuing use despite relationship problems, giving up important activities, using in dangerous situations, developing tolerance requiring more to achieve the same effect, and experiencing withdrawal symptoms when stopping.

Common substances involved in disorders we treat include alcohol, opioids (prescription painkillers, heroin), stimulants (cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription stimulants), cannabis, benzodiazepines, and other prescription medications. Our substance use disorder therapy addresses all types of substance use with evidence-based interventions tailored to your specific situation through comprehensive addiction counseling.

The Disease Model of Addiction

Substance use disorders are recognized medical conditions, not moral failures or character flaws. Addiction involves changes in brain chemistry and neural pathways that make stopping incredibly difficult even when you desperately want to quit. Understanding addiction as a disease reduces shame and helps you approach recovery with self-compassion. Our substance use disorder treatment is grounded in this understanding while holding you accountable for your recovery through effective treatment for substance abuse.

Common Challenges We Address

People seeking substance abuse therapy face multiple interconnected challenges that require comprehensive, integrated treatment through specialized addiction counseling.

Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

Most people with substance use disorders also struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, or other mental health conditions. Many people initially used substances to self-medicate these underlying issues. Our substance use disorder therapy addresses both addiction and mental health simultaneously because treating one without the other rarely leads to lasting recovery. Our founder’s expertise in trauma, personality disorders, and complex mental health makes this integrated approach particularly effective.

Trauma and Adverse Experiences

Childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, or other adverse experiences significantly increase vulnerability to addiction. Unprocessed trauma often drives substance use as a coping mechanism. Our treatment for substance abuse includes trauma processing using EMDR and other evidence-based techniques, addressing the root causes of addiction rather than just the symptoms through comprehensive substance use disorder treatment.

Relationship and Family Issues

Addiction damages relationships through broken trust, enabling patterns, codependency, and conflict. Family members often don’t know how to help without enabling. Our addiction counseling addresses relationship dynamics, helps repair damaged connections, and involves family members when appropriate to create a supportive recovery environment through substance abuse therapy interventions.

Relapse and Relapse Prevention

Relapse is common in recovery and doesn’t mean failure—it means you need different or additional support. Our substance use disorder therapy includes comprehensive relapse prevention training, helping you identify triggers, recognize warning signs, develop coping strategies, and create a solid recovery plan that prepares you for high-risk situations through dedicated treatment for substance abuse.

Evidence-Based Treatment Approaches

Healing Speak uses proven therapeutic techniques specifically effective for substance use disorder treatment and supporting long-term recovery. Our founder brings 11 years of clinical experience working in substance abuse treatment settings with specialized knowledge of addiction and co-occurring disorders.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Addiction

CBT is one of the most effective approaches for substance abuse therapy. This method helps you identify triggers and high-risk situations, recognize and change thoughts that lead to use, develop healthier coping strategies, and build problem-solving skills. Our addiction counseling teaches you to challenge beliefs that maintain addiction, such as “I can’t cope without using” or “One time won’t hurt,” and develop alternative responses that support recovery through targeted substance use disorder therapy.

Motivational Interviewing

Ambivalence about quitting is normal. Part of you wants to stop, while another part isn’t ready. Motivational interviewing is a collaborative approach that explores your own reasons for change rather than imposing external pressure. This technique in our treatment for substance abuse helps you identify personal motivations, resolve ambivalence, and build commitment to recovery based on what matters most to you through compassionate substance use disorder treatment.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT is highly effective for substance use disorders, especially when co-occurring with emotional dysregulation or personality disorders. Our Certified DBT provider teaches skills for managing cravings, tolerating distress without using, regulating intense emotions, and navigating interpersonal conflicts that might trigger use. These practical skills are essential for maintaining sobriety through comprehensive substance abuse therapy and addiction counseling.

Trauma-Focused Interventions

When trauma underlies addiction, processing those experiences is crucial for lasting recovery. Our substance use disorder therapy includes EMDR and other trauma processing techniques that address the root causes of substance use. You must be stable in early recovery before trauma processing, but addressing trauma significantly reduces relapse risk by removing a major driver of substance use through specialized treatment for substance abuse.

Relapse Prevention Training

Preventing relapse requires specific skills and strategies. Our addiction counseling teaches you to identify personal triggers and warning signs, develop coping strategies for high-risk situations, create emergency action plans, build a support network, and maintain lifestyle changes that support sobriety. You’ll leave substance use disorder treatment with a comprehensive relapse prevention plan tailored to your specific vulnerabilities through evidence-based substance abuse therapy.

Mindfulness and Acceptance-Based Approaches

Mindfulness helps you sit with cravings and uncomfortable emotions without immediately reacting. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy teaches you to accept difficult feelings while still taking action aligned with your values. These approaches in our treatment for substance abuse help you build the capacity to tolerate distress without turning to substances through comprehensive substance use disorder therapy and addiction counseling.

What Makes Our Approach Different

Our founder spent 11 years working specifically in substance abuse and community mental health settings before establishing Healing Speak. This extensive experience in addiction treatment means we understand the complexities of substance use disorders beyond what general therapists typically encounter. We know the patterns, the rationalizations, the challenges, and what actually works for creating lasting recovery through effective substance use disorder treatment.

Unlike therapists who might be uncomfortable with addiction or lack specific training, our substance abuse therapy is grounded in specialized expertise. We also integrate treatment for co-occurring disorders rather than treating them separately, recognizing that addiction rarely exists in isolation. Our founder’s certifications in trauma treatment and personality disorders make this integrated approach particularly effective for complex cases requiring comprehensive addiction counseling.

Honest and Direct Communication

Recovery requires honesty, and we model that in our interactions. We’re compassionate but also direct when needed. We hold you accountable while maintaining genuine care and respect. Our treatment for substance abuse balances support with appropriate challenges that promote growth through dedicated substance use disorder therapy.

Levels of Care and Coordination

Substance use disorder treatment exists at different levels of intensity. Outpatient therapy like we provide is appropriate for mild to moderate substance use disorders or as step-down care after more intensive treatment. If you need detoxification, residential treatment, or intensive outpatient programs, we can provide appropriate referrals and coordinate care with those providers through our addiction counseling services.

We also coordinate with your prescriber if you’re taking medications for addiction recovery like naltrexone, buprenorphine, or acamprosate. Medication-assisted treatment combined with substance abuse therapy often provides the best outcomes for opioid and alcohol use disorders through comprehensive substance use disorder treatment approaches.

Who We Help

We work with adults struggling with substance use disorders who are ready to make changes or exploring whether they’re ready. Many of our clients are helping professionals—nurses, therapists, teachers, counselors—who face unique challenges with addiction because of professional consequences and the shame of struggling with something they’re supposed to help others with. You might have tried quitting alone or through other treatment for substance abuse programs without success and need a different approach through specialized substance use disorder therapy.

Our clients value evidence-based approaches and want therapists who understand addiction specifically, not just general mental health issues. They’re ready to be honest about their use and committed to the difficult work of recovery through dedicated addiction counseling and substance abuse therapy.

Building a Life in Recovery

Recovery is more than just not using substances—it’s building a life where you don’t want or need to use. Our substance use disorder treatment helps you identify values and goals beyond sobriety, develop healthy relationships and social support, find meaningful activities and purpose, create structure and routines that support wellness, and address the underlying issues that drove substance use through comprehensive treatment for substance abuse and addiction counseling.

We help you envision and create a life worth living where substances no longer fit or serve you. This positive vision, combined with practical skills and ongoing support, creates sustainable recovery through effective substance abuse therapy and substance use disorder therapy.

Addressing Stigma and Shame

Addiction carries significant stigma that prevents many people from seeking help. You might feel ashamed, broken, or like you’ve failed. Our treatment for substance abuse creates a judgment-free environment where you’re treated with dignity and respect. We understand addiction as a medical condition requiring treatment, not a moral failing requiring punishment, through compassionate substance use disorder treatment and addiction counseling.

Convenient Telehealth Services

We provide substance use disorder therapy through secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms accessible anywhere in the state. Telehealth offers privacy, reduces barriers to attendance, and eliminates commute time that might otherwise interfere with maintaining employment or family responsibilities during recovery. We offer flexible scheduling including weekend and evening appointments for substance abuse therapy, understanding that recovery requires consistent engagement through regular addiction counseling and treatment for substance abuse sessions.

Accessible and Insurance-Friendly

Quality substance use disorder treatment should be accessible to everyone who needs it. We’re in-network with over 10 major insurance providers including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Florida Blue. We also offer self-pay options for addiction counseling and can discuss sliding scale fees in certain situations to ensure financial concerns don’t prevent you from receiving the specialized substance abuse therapy you deserve for building lasting recovery through effective treatment for substance abuse.

Take the First Step Toward Recovery

You don’t have to continue struggling with substance use. Recovery is possible, and thousands of people build meaningful lives free from active addiction every year. With evidence-based substance use disorder therapy, comprehensive support, and your commitment to change, you can overcome addiction and create the life you want. The fact that you’re reading this suggests you’re already considering change—that’s an important first step toward substance use disorder treatment.
